12 Fictional ENTPs
#1 – Tony Stark "Iron Man"
"I build neat stuff, got a great girl, occasionally save the world. So why can't I sleep?" – Tony Stark
Tony Stark's mind is always buzzing with possibilities and ideas that can improve the future. Like all ENTPs, his rapid-fire verbal sparring can land him in hot water, but it's his ingenious inventions that set him apart. Even in the most foreboding scenarios, Tony Stark is able to envision a way out. In fact, sometimes the feeling of being trapped enables him to think more creatively than he would otherwise. This is typical for ENTPs who often find that they get their best ideas under pressure!

#2 – The Joker from "Batman: The Dark Knight"
"Introduce a little anarchy. Upset the established order and everything becomes chaos. I'm an agent of chaos." – The Joker
The Joker sees possibilities and creative ideas everywhere around him. Although his intuition generates grotesque and horrifying ideas, you can't deny that there's a certain ingenuity to his method. He easily senses what's going on behind the scenes and can read people and their motivations well (thanks to his intuition and his tertiary Extraverted Feeling). The Joker thinks outside of the box, and while he seems to talk nonsense and toy with people's minds with ease, he has an internal set of logical principles that he's following even though no one else can seem to keep up.
#3 – Osamu Dozai from "Bungo Stray Dogs"
"Justice is a weapon. It can be used to cause harm, but it cannot protect or save others." – Osamu Dozai
Creative, ingenious, and without regard for rules, Dozai manages to survive his bizarre suicide attempts while simultaneously solving the most complex mysteries and crimes. His sense of humor, irreverent humor, and playful but clever demeanor make him both awe-inspiring and infuriating to his fellow agents. In typical ENTP fashion, Dozai is often mislabeled as "lazy" even though his brain is frenetically active. His quick, agile mind can be used to both play pranks and spot loopholes in the plans of his enemies.
#4 – Jack Skellington from "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
"Since I am dead I can take off my head to recite Shakespearean quotations." – Jack Skellington
Jack is compelled to pursue new ideas and possibilities and regularly mourns the dull routine of his daily life. In his hunger for a change, he explores the concept of Christmas, learning every detail he can in order to make sense of it. Like most ENTPs, he tires of the tried-and-true way of doing things and wants to shake things up and explore new experiences and perspectives.
#5 – Fred and George Weasley from the Harry Potter films and books
"'E' for "Exceeds Expectations." And I've always thought Fred and I should've got "E" in everything, because we exceeded expectations just by turning up for exams." – George Weasley
Mischievous and clever, Fred and George Weasley capture the irreverent, playful spirit of the ENTP personality type. Fred and George are highly ambitious but are more concerned with creating their own business enterprises than receiving perfect grades at Hogwarts. New ideas excite them and they easily concoct magical spells and pranks that they sell with effective charm. While they can easily read people and win them over with their friendly, humorous style, they give more credence to logical rationale when making decisions. More than making others happy and satisfying their expectations, they are focused on achieving their goals and experimenting with concepts and innovative ideas.
#6 – Willy Wonka from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"
"A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men." – Willy Wonka
Creative, clever, and driven by possibilities, Willy Wonka is the quintessential ENTP. More focused on creation and ingenuity than connection, Wonka knows that to stay aligned with his vision he needs to find another creative soul with integrity to run his factory. He has a unique way of seeing the world and never limits his ideas or thinks anything is too "out there" to try. He comes alive when he can create something completely original, and while others may scoff at some of his creations, he has no problem with criticism. He follows his own path and has an independent spirit that nobody else can change.
#7 – Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck in the Lord of the Rings series
"Why did you look? Why do you always have to look?" – Meriadoc Brandybuck
While Merry and Pippin are seen as mostly humorous scoundrels in the Lord of the Rings series, there's no denying that Merry is the more pragmatic of the two. In typical ENTP fashion, Merry is up for anything, driven by his curiosity, and surprisingly brave and level-headed in the face of chaos. Though he is all for having fun and being on an adventure, he also recognizes the gravity of the situation the fellowship is in. His logic is a stabilizer that helps him to stay grounded when needed. When life is more carefree, he's able to embrace the curious, novelty-seeking, adventurous nature of the Extraverted Intuitive-dominant type.
#8 – Caractacus Potts from "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"
Caracticus Potts: Mm? Oh. Do you think I'm a lunatic, wasting my time on a lot of silly inventions?
Jemima: But they aren't silly! They're wonderful!
Jeremy: Nobody else can think of them.
Caracticus Potts: That's right! That is right! Nobody else can think of them.
Caracticus Potts is driven by a desire to explore, experiment, and create a better life for his children. He thinks outside the box, creating ingenious plans for survival using a combination of analytical thinking (Ti) and innovative perspectives (Ne). He has an easy expressiveness and charm that tertiary Fe users are known for, yet he doesn't care to share his feelings readily with everyone.
#9 – Tyrion Lannister from "Game of Thrones"
"You need to take your enemy's side if you're going to see things the way they do. And you need to see things the way they do if you're going to anticipate their actions, respond effectively, and beat them." – Tyrion Lannister
Strategic, independent, and insightful, Tyrion Lannister knows how to use his wits to stand his ground among people who look down on him. In typical ENTP style, he has no respect for authority or rank – socializing with whores and everyday people over royalty most of the time. He's one of the only ranking people in the kingdom who will speak to Joffrey Lannister directly about his problems – even going so far as to slap him when his behavior goes too far. ENTPs may understand rank structures and hierarchies, but they enjoy rebelling against them and logically tearing apart the arguments of people who uphold them. Tyrion's inventive, ingenious way of strategizing combines with humor and offbeat charm to make him one of the most memorable ENTPs in television history.
#10 – Fleabag from "Fleabag"
"Being proper and sweet and nice and pleasing is a f***ing nightmare. It's exhausting." – Fleabag
Sharp-witted, self-destructive, and engaging, Fleabag somehow makes the grief, shame, and longing of life both hilarious and emotionally resonant. Like most ENTP females, she doesn't quite fit into the standard mold of "acceptable" female behavior. She is more direct and insubordinate, and the alternative perspectives that parade through her mind are often shocking or irreverent. Not all ENTP females will be like Fleabag, in fact, many won't be. She's a character who has many unhealthy characteristics. But they will likely relate to her unique way of seeing the world, her offbeat sense of humor, and the way she mentally cuts past the facades people wear to see how things really are.
#11 – Rintaro Okabe from "Steins;Gate"
"Consider, can the universe be justifiably called infinite? Doubtful. It may not have a discernible end, but it has a beginning and its component parts definitely have a limited cosmological shelf-life. Splitting haris or not, if history tells us anything, it's that scientists often make very poor poets. We're all just a ship of fools chasing phantoms heedless of what really underwrites natural law." – Rintaro Okabe
Ingenious and curious, Rintaro Okabe lives in a world of possibilities. As a self-proclaimed "mad scientist," Okabe is the founder of what he calls the "Future Gadget Laboratory." Within his laboratory, he consistently thinks outside the box in order to defend himself, discover truths, and protect his childhood friend, Mayuri. He follows his curiosity and intuition to invent new gadgets and experiment with time travel.
#12 – Jeff Winger from "Community"
"I discovered at a very early age that if I talk long enough, I can make anything right or wrong. So either I'm God or truth is relative. In either case, booyah!" – Jeff Winger
Snarky and perceptive, Jeff Winger embodies the troll-ish ENTP who is smart and charming enough to succeed in life without following the rules. His sarcastic wit and eye for possibilities and opportunities make him stand out and eventually become the leader of his study group. However, his detachment from his feelings and sometimes exploitative nature cause him to have occasional rifts with his group and other students at Greendale. "Community" follows Winger through various levels of growth and maturity, as he learns to get in touch with his own sense of right and wrong and consider the feelings of others before his own aims.
